UCSB WALKWAY SAFETY PROGRAM
UCSB WALKWAY SAFETY PROGRAM
UCSB has grown to over 24,000 enrolled students and 6,500 faculty and staff. Providing safe paths of travel for over 30,000 people is dependent upon the ongoing efforts of the Physical Facilities staff who continually inspect and maintain walkways throughout the year.
Physical Facilities at UCSB is committed to maintaining safe walkways on campus. With approximately 1.4 million square feet of walkways, there is a never ending challenge to inspect, maintain, and enhance our walkways throughout the year
Whether the task involves the patching and filling of cracks, beveling of raised walkways, replacement of damaged concrete, or the redesign of major pedestrian corridors, UCSB is committed to maintaining a safe and more beautiful environment.

SAFETY IN NUMBERS
Over 5,500 potential trip hazards have been removed from the campus since January 2010.
GROWING IN BEAUTY
In keeping with the natural beauty of its surroundings, UCSB took an aesthetic leap forward recently when a major infrastructure project replaced large expanses of mundane and deteriorating concrete with tasteful new walkways and landscaping through the campus’s Library and Science Corridors.
